The media that is pushing the campaign that the current government in Montenegro is anti-Serbian is working on the return of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), said the spokesperson for the New Serbian Democracy (NSD), Mirko Miličić, adding that the NSD is the guarantor that Serbs in Montenegro no longer have to worry about their existence.
In a statement to the media, he said that a lot of ill-intentioned controversy is being raised outside Montenegro about the Serbian people in Montenegro.
"Various stories are being stirred up, and what was kept quiet during the rule of Milo Đukanović and the DPS has now suddenly become a burning topic and the focus of the morning program guests, various analysts and experts on all sorts of things," Miličić said.
According to him, anyone who claims that Serbs are threatened in Montenegro today is telling a lie, just as anyone who claims that the former regime did not build this country on the basis of anti-Serbism and constant discrimination against the Serbian people is telling a lie.
"It seems that the media that is pushing a false campaign today about how the current government in Montenegro is anti-Serb is actually working to bring DPS back to power, so that, supposedly, Serbs would be better off, just like they were before 2020, according to the maxim - if there are no Serbs, there are no problems," said Miličić.
As he added, whoever works to weaken the Serbian political factor in Montenegro is directly working to strengthen the DPS.
"This does not surprise us at all, because the same media outlets, at the expense of Milo Đukanović, in 2015 and 2016 spread the most disgusting lies against the leader of the Democratic Front (DF) and the Serbian politics that were being conducted in Montenegro," Miličić said.
He pointed out that the most shameful pages of propaganda in favor of Milo Đukanović were run in Montenegro at the time by the media that now tirelessly smear Serbian politicians from Montenegro in Serbia.
"Just as they previously worked for Milo Đukanović's local company, now, of course, they are continuing the same job but under a different pretext," Miličić said.
He also said that the NSD is the guarantee that Serbs in Montenegro no longer have to worry about their existence.
"That they will never again be unemployed just because they are Serbs, but that they will work, have space to progress and have a good income, that no one will ever dare to take away the sacred things of our Serbian Orthodox Church, which is the backbone of the Serbian people wherever they are," Miličić said.
He reiterated that the former regime had inflicted many injustices on the Serbian people over the decades and much must be corrected.
"But in order to succeed in this, we must have a wise approach. We must have friends and allies - both among our Montenegrin relatives and among our Albanian, Bosniak and Croat neighbors," Miličić said.
He added that those who shared both good and bad with Serbia will not be able to be distanced from it by various upstarts.
"Because neither Serbia nor Montenegro is defined by one government or another. Our brotherly love for Serbia is primordial and has lasted for centuries, regardless of the circumstances," said Miličić.
He said that the NSD, precisely for this reason, will not allow well-known political swindlers, under various patriotic slogans, to exclude them from the decision-making process in Montenegro and once again lead to Serbs in Montenegro being second-class citizens.
"Because this too will pass, and the Serbian people will remain," Miličić concluded.
