The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is a 90s bully in the sheep's clothing of a protector, the Europe Now Movement (PES) has assessed.
The PES told the DPS that the party led by Milo Đukanović bears the burden of the attack on Dubrovnik, the deportation of Bosniak refugees, Bukovica and Štrpce.
"The DPS statement is proof that today they are a party that has been left without a program, without ideas and without elementary political culture, so that all that remains of their former power is vulgar vocabulary. The fact that they falsely advertised themselves as protectors of minority peoples does not mean that they are allowed to call political representatives of minority peoples "useful idiots" the moment they, in their arbitrary judgment, are not obedient. This is the attitude of a master towards his subjects, not towards political dissenters, which only shows that the DPS is a bully from the 90s in the sheep's clothing of a protector," the PES statement points out.
They told "those who today, in the name of Milo Đukanović, are giving lessons about Srebrenica and the attitude towards war crimes" to "first read their own biography."
"The party led by Milo Đukanović for decades bears the burden of 1991 and 1992, namely the burden of the attack on Dubrovnik, the deportation of Bosniak refugees who were handed over by the Montenegrin police to the forces that led them to their deaths, Bukovica, Štrpce. For all of this, not a word of apology has ever been uttered, which had no political calculation behind it. The misuse of the name Srebrenica in daily political showdowns is not a defense of the victims, but rather their abuse, which makes them petty merchants of departed souls," the statement reads.
PES adds that they do not relativize war crimes, and that they have no need to prove this with statements.
"Montenegro, under the PES-led government, was among the countries that supported the UN Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide, something that the DPS never did. While the DPS wrote empty statements about the victims, we voted for values. That is why the initiative launched by the DPS has nothing to do with the victims, with dignity, or with principles. It has nothing to do with an attempt to bring the party that lost power back into the spotlight, which they are doing with sweaty nervousness because we have shown that we are the government that leads Montenegro much better than them," the statement reads.
