Đukanović: The problem of Montenegro is the lack of quality political competition

The serious problem of Montenegro, said the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Đukanović at the party's election convention in Kolašin, is the lack of quality political competition.

"Only good quality is born from good good competition. It is the only guarantee that those in power will not commit any serious mistakes."

Đukanović wrote an open letter to the ambassadors of the European Union (EU) from the leader of the URA Civil Movement, Dritan Abazović, in which he called on them not to attend the inauguration of the president, calling it "political stupidity".

"Abazović is just an ordinary commodity in the hands of media tycoons, who they change every now and then, wanting to continue to realize their illegitimate political and their illegal financial interests through the abuse of certain party leaders. I didn't expect a political spider like Abazović to have more brains than he does, but I expected him to remember how his predecessors, in the hands of those same media tycoons, knelt in Washington about 10 years ago to prevent Montenegro from being allowed independence, how begged foreign investors not to invest in Montenegro, as they begged the EU and NATO not to accept applications for membership, and betrayed the interests of Montenegro with each of these moves. If it's also from Abazović, from whom I don't expect any political wisdom, it's a lot," said the DPS leader.

He said of the ruling coalition in that city (Democratic Front, Socialist People's Party and Social Democratic Party) that "it is made up of opposing ideological policies, united only in hatred of DPS".

Đukanović said that Kolašin "experienced a natural disaster four years ago".

Kolašin, said the president of DPS, must be returned to the hands of "those who have shown that they have enough patriotism, enough political skills and a clear vision, which guarantees that they make good decisions in the interest of our country". He said that on May 27, "the betrayal that the SDP started in Kolašin" must be punished.

"That party which persistently repeated to itself that it was the only one on the right side of history for a quarter of a century, actually moved from Kolašin to the wrong side of history, served the betrayal of Montenegrin state and national interests. It served servilely for four years in Kolašin, as which serves in Budva and Kotor as well, losing not only its Montenegrin identity, but its political identity. That party betrayed itself and that betrayal is logically punished today by the fact that they are on the verge of being censured and expelled from their society by political polecats of the caliber of (Aleks) Bečić and ( Dritan) Abazović", said Đukanović.

The DPS leader promised that the first section of the highway, worth 900 million euros, will be completed by the middle of next year. Before that, he said, the second section will be started, from Mateševo ​​to Andrijevica, and the third section from Andrijevica to Boljar has been contracted, he claims.

He also said that "more than 100 million euros are spent on Bjelasica".
