Montenegro's entry into the European Union and NATO will represent a good incentive for regional security and a better perspective for the countries of the Western Balkans, it was assessed in the conversation between representatives of the Bosniak Party (BS) and the European People's Party (EPP) in Brussels.
BS political director Suljo Mustafić and youth president Sead Šahman spoke at the EPP headquarters with its president Josef Daula about the situation in Montenegro and its integration into the EU and NATO.
It was assessed that despite numerous challenges in the region, progress was made on the Euro-Atlantic path of Montenegro.
Mustafić and Šahman talked with Secretary General Antonio Lopez about concretizing the cooperation of EPP and BS through different levels of party structures.
"It was jointly stated that it is important to agree on the principles and to trace further cooperation based on them, which should be based on mutual trust," the statement said.
Lopez pointed out that the cooperation of the EPP was achieved with several minority parties in Europe, which proved to be very fruitful.
"The BS announced that the party's program priorities are the EU and NATO, greater presence of minority peoples in institutions, improvement of the social situation, elimination of regional differences in Montenegro and especially work with young people," the announcement states.
In the conversation with the member of the European Parliament from Croatia, Ivana Maletić, opinions were exchanged about the current situation in Montenegro and it was pointed out that the political dialogue takes place in the institutions and that it is important that all political subjects are involved in the work of the parliament.
Mustafić and Šahman met with the president of the Committee for Foreign Affairs in the European Parliament, Dajvid McAlister, and the head of the Montenegrin mission in Brussels, Bojan Sarkić.
