The Alliance is a guarantor of a high degree of respect for human rights and freedoms, and a constant strengthening of the rule of law environment, was assessed at the meeting of the national coordinator for NATO, Dragan Pejanović, with representatives of minority parties.
As announced by the Communication Team of the NATO Membership Council, Pejanović met today with representatives of the Parliamentary Club of Minority Parties - the Bosniak Party (BS), the Albanians Resolutely coalition and the Croatian Civic Initiative.
At the meeting, as stated, unequivocal support for Montenegro's membership in NATO was expressed by the Club and the represented parties individually.
The head of the Parliamentary Club of Minority Parties, Ervin Ibrahimović, said that the dynamics of the ratification of the Protocol confirm that Montenegro is on the right track and that it will soon be an equal member of NATO.
"That's why I can say with pleasure that BS recognized the interests of the Bosniak people and the state of Montenegro, as well as the growing global challenges in the environment, and that's why European and Euro-Atlantic integration are one of the priorities in our program," Ibrahimović said after the meeting.
The representatives of the Club of Minority Parties agreed with the assessment that membership in the Alliance means sharing common values, civilizational democratic achievements, economic, security and issues of every individual, citizen in general.
"As representatives of national communities, we expressed our support for the process at the meeting, and we will support it by voting in the Parliament of Montenegro," said the Vice President of the Assembly, Genci Nimanbegu.
He assessed that the legitimacy of the majority in the parliament is unquestionable, and called on the part of the opposition that supports integration "to be responsible and to do the same, because what makes us historically responsible is that through this process we join the society of countries that are better than us".
Nimanbegu pointed out that it is almost certain that the process will end in the spring.
"At the meeting, the need to affirm the unquestionable argument that the Alliance is the guarantor of a high degree of respect for human rights and freedoms, and the constant strengthening of the environment of the rule of law," says the announcement.
It is stated that joint activities will present the advantages of membership in NATO, which, apart from the military and defense segment, also refer to assistance in emergency situations, sea protection and the like.
Pejanović said that at the meeting it was agreed to intensify cooperation, high-quality and efficient exchange of information and implementation of joint activities, which are primarily related to informing all structures of Montenegrin society about the advantages of Montenegro's membership in NATO.
"We received a clear and unequivocal opinion from the representatives of the minority nations on the need to finalize this process in the Assembly of Montenegro, with the statement that membership is good for the state and all its citizens," said Pejanović.
As the representatives of the minority parties announced, belonging to the Alliance is a natural commitment, especially if it is known that 90 percent of the Montenegrin diaspora lives in NATO member countries.
