The US space agency NASA today ordered astronauts on the International Space Station to temporarily evacuate while repairs are carried out to repair leaking air installations.
Five astronauts have moved to a SpaceX capsule that is "parked" on the station while repairs are being made to installations located on the Russian part of the orbital station.
The decision was made "out of an abundance of caution," NASA spokeswoman Bethany Stevens said on social media.
The crew left the capsule and returned to work after repairs were paused.
Over the years, cracks and air leaks developed in the Russian part of the stations.
NASA announced that the Russian space agency Roscosmos has decided, after the latest problems, to take repairs more seriously.
Both space agencies are trying to determine what caused the cracks.
