Communal-residential Herceg Novi: Led lighting brought 65% savings

5.926 old LED lamps have been replaced with new LED lamps in the territory of the Herzegnov municipality, and the introduction of a modern control and remote control system is in progress, which is a project of the Municipality carried out by the company "HeSeLight" from Denmark. In this project, the company "Komunalno-stambeno" provided all the necessary technical and logistical support, it was announced at today's press conference of the managers of this company.

So far, new public lighting routes, with a total length of 5.985 meters, have been installed and put into operation, namely: in Vrbanje, in Srbina, in the park of Manastira Savina, Prijevor, Sutorina, on Topla 3 and other, smaller routes. In addition, a large number of renovations and reconstructions were carried out, especially on the Pet Danica Promenade and along the riviera from Bijela to Kumbor.

"We are in the process of introducing wireless control to about 1.800 lamps, which, due to the specific configuration of the terrain, do not accept new commands. They are in constant communication with the representatives of the Danish company, whose engineers will perform all the necessary measurements and overcome this challenge by the end of May next year at the latest, said the manager of the public lighting sector Branko Crnogorčević and emphasized that currently about 93 percent of the capacity is in operation.

He emphasized that the benefits of introducing LED lighting are indisputable and that the saving of electricity is about 65 percent, and that after the implementation of remote control the saving will be about 80 percent.

He added that a major problem in the functioning of public lighting is carelessness during construction work, which is why last year around eight kilometers of installations were damaged, as well as intentional physical damage, such as the theft of covers from public lighting poles.

The director of the company, Munevera Dabović, pointed out that significant efforts have been made, in cooperation with the local administration, to green the city areas, but that their biggest challenge is the fight against the "red palm weevil", in which "they have directed all their capacities". So far, 11 palm trees have been removed on the territory of the city, dendrosurgery has been performed on six, and "Communal-Residential" with the help of the Municipality of Herceg Novi is carrying out treatments of all palm trees on municipal property and in the marine property zone. In order to prevent the spread of this pest, Dabović appealed to citizens to consult this or other authorized takeovers and protection of palm trees in their possession.

Dabović also pointed out that the road and watercourse maintenance sector did its job as well as possible this year, which improved the flood protection system. The watercourses are constantly and regularly maintained, and the roads are clean and mowed.

The assistant director of the "Communal-Housing" company Mladen Rostović reminded that the municipality of Herceg Novi is working on a local plan for the management of municipal and non-hazardous construction waste, as well as a spatial plan of the municipality, which will define the needs of the city and the company. "Both documents are of great importance for the work and functioning of the "Municipal-Housing" company," said Rostović.

He stated that there will be two locations for the processing of green waste, a central location, the procurement of a mobile bio-shredder and a container that will be used to transport the waste. It will be defined how construction waste will be treated.
