Begović: Lawyers will be able to pay the tax debt in 60 installments, interest written off

Montenegrin lawyers who do not pay taxes to the state from next year will most likely have relief - they will be able to pay the debt in 60 monthly installments, and the interest will be written off.

This was announced yesterday at the annual election session of the Bar Association, the president of the Bar Association, lawyer Zdravko Begović.

Begović told his colleagues that such an announcement came to him from the Tax Administration, from which, as he claims, they explained to him that they would have to change the law in order to enable them to do so.

"It is a model of some of the former Soviet states. They would give us five years to pay the debt in equal monthly installments, and the interest would be written off," Begović said.

He explained that the Tax Administration announced the adoption of the new Law at the beginning of 2017. He said he would fight for it.

The total debts of lawyers at the end of May 2016, based on tax debt, were six million euros.

Of that sum, the most money is owed for contributions for pension and disability insurance and for health insurance, about 2,6 million each.

Yesterday, Begović was elected president of the Bar Association for the third time in a row.

In the election race, he received more votes than his colleague Veselin Kaluđerović from Kotor.
