Rector of the University of Montenegro Radmila Vojvodić talked with the Minister of Science Sanja Damjanović about the possibilities of internationalization, better visibility and reference of scientific research groups of the University of Montenegro, as well as their connection with renowned scientific institutions from Europe.
As announced by the University of Montenegro, Vojvodić thanked Damjanović for starting her mandate by visiting the University.
"I consider it a good gesture, because there are many areas that we can quickly improve," Vojvodić said.
She reminded that the University, in its short-term strategy, emphasized internationalization "but first of all at the level and according to the context in which UCG functions as the mother of any scientific and research work" in Montenegro.
"Let's start with what is most important for the qualification of staff - human resources at the University, which is the respect of scientific and research references when choosing a position, promoting the mobility of associates and doctoral students. We advocate the criteria of scientific publication and reference mentoring", said Vojvodić.
She stated that research centers are being established at all university units, as well as that the University of Montenegro can boast of the BIO ICT Center of Excellence and the idea of a Science and Technology Park on the university campus.
Damjanović said that there is a possibility to establish active cooperation between small scientific groups with UCG, by concluding a cooperation agreement, with several institutes in Europe "that are open and friendly to scientists".
Those scientific institutes, as Damjanović said, are like small industrial cities that enable work "under one roof" for biologists, physicists, biomedical doctors, chemists, computer scientists, that is, those scientific-research groups that need expensive equipment for work, which is not much more developed countries than ours cannot afford it.
At the meeting, at Vojvodić's suggestion, it was agreed to organize a meeting at the end of December with representatives of the Scientific and Doctoral Studies Board of the University of Montenegro, reference scientists and researchers, and representatives of the Ministry of Science, in order to discuss the realization of this idea.
