Tomorrow in Ulcinj, the company Morsko dobro and the Institute of Marine Biology will organize a presentation - Commercial value of blue crab.
Presentations by the scientific associate of the Institute, Olivera Marković, who also studies crabs, will be held in the restaurants Miško on Ada Bojana and Aragosta on Pristan at 13 and 14.30:XNUMX p.m., respectively.
Guests will also have the opportunity to taste specialties based on blue crab meat.
The blue crab (Callinectis sapidus), as it says in the invitation, comes from the Atlantic Ocean. It is a good swimmer and has great reproductive potential. It is one of the most invasive marine species in the Mediterranean, where it entered via ballast water. Cancer has been present in the Adriatic for a long time, but its population has only recently begun to increase numerically. In Montenegro, blue crabs have been observed in several locations, at the mouth of the Bojana River in Ulcinj, near Jaz in Budva and in Boka Kotorska, in the Gulf of Tivat.
Blue crab meat is edible, extremely high quality and tasty, which is why it is a potentially economically profitable species.
"The goal of this campaign is to present information to fishermen, restaurant owners and the local population about this new species in our sea, which, unlike other invasive species of marine organisms, represents a new potential for fishing and commercial use," the invitation reads.
