The opening of the cemetery for fascist soldiers who died in the Second World War in Montenegro, where the remains of 64 soldiers of Hitler's army were buried, is a great betrayal of anti-fascism, the result of the national liberation struggle and the ideals of those who fought against the greatest evil in the history of mankind, it was announced after a meeting of representatives Democratic People's Party (DNP) and Yugoslav Communist Party (JKPCG).
"While the current government, under the pretext of alleged humane and civilizational reasons, builds a cemetery for Nazi soldiers, there is still no cemetery in Podgorica for those who died innocently during the bombing in the Second World War in 1941 and 1944, and their remains are still are located in inappropriate locations and have been pushed into oblivion. We also ask the question, how many of our camp inmates and detainees were buried on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany in accordance with the Agreement on the graves of victims of wars between Montenegro and the Federal Republic of Germany, and what were the motives that determined the current government to such an act of betrayal of the historical values of Montenegro," the announcement states.
DNP and PUK point out that out of respect for all victims of fascism, they will initiate a procedure before the Constitutional Court to cancel the decision to build a cemetery and to transport the remains to FR Germany.
"Having in mind this act of canceling the anti-fascist determination of Montenegro, we express our willingness that Montenegro should urgently bear the costs of exhumation and transportation of the remains of fascist soldiers to the Federal Republic of Germany, where they will be handed over to their descendants and where they belong in terms of civilization and in every other way. PUK, as a member of the Democratic Front, gave its full support to the DF and condemned the hunt that is being conducted against this political entity," the announcement states.
The meeting was attended on behalf of the DNP by President Milan Knežević and member of the Presidency Nikola Jovanović, while the delegation of the PUK of Montenegro was made up of the President of the Central Committee Vladislav Vuković and the Secretary of the Central Committee, Slobodan Petrović.
