Last year, children under the age of 15 were treated 13.777 times in hospitals, while 626.281 accidents were recorded at selected doctors in the same period.
These are the data announced by the Institute for Public Health on the occasion of November 20, International Children's Day.
Social medicine specialist Verica Osmanović said that Montenegro is included in the fourth round for monitoring childhood obesity and that the field part of the work was carried out in May. She pointed out that 3.500 children between the ages of seven and eight were measured and that, based on the data, a health policy related to school children's nutrition and monitoring programs will be created.
Osmanović emphasized that the analysis of children's health status showed that among the first five most common groups of children's diseases in Montenegro are diseases of the respiratory system, infectious and parasitic diseases, and diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue.
According to her, it is necessary to involve as much as possible in solving children's problems, especially those who are at increased risk of developing health disorders.
"Just as children from vulnerable and discriminated groups, who live in poverty are excluded from the education system, children without parental care". Osmanović reminded that the survey on the prevalence of tobacco use showed that 10,8 percent of children aged 15 consumed tobacco products.
