At the monument to the national hero Dragan Gig Cerović, in the Nikšić city cemetery, a historical hour was held, organized by the Association of NOR fighters and anti-fascists Nikšić and the scout squad named after the mentioned hero. Slobodan Bato Mirjačić, president of UBNOR and anti-fascist Nikšić, and Professor Mijat Božović, head of the "Dragan - Gigo Cerović" scouting unit, spoke about Cerović's life.

Mirjačić said that Cerović was the embodiment of courage and camaraderie and was very popular with his comrades.

"He was seriously wounded in the battles near Zabrđ in July 1942. Aware of the severity of his wounds, he remained cheerful and cheerful until the last day. From the stretcher, he sang partisan songs and marches, encouraged his comrades to persevere to freedom. He often said that it is nice and honorable to die for the freedom of one's people," said Mirjačić.

Gigo Cerović died at the age of 23, and was declared a national hero in 1953.

Mijat Božović reminded that in 1928, Tibor Sekelj, a student of the Gymnasium, founded the first scouting unit in Zetska banovina, which, later working as a squad, gathered the best young people, among whom Dragan Cerović stood out in particular.

"After the war, these detachments were rebuilt and established, and the first rebuilt detachment in the Gymnasium, and among the first in Montenegro, was named 'Dragan Cerović - Gigo' with good reason. Since then, many generations of this squad have changed, but they have always been the best or among the best in Yugoslavia," said Božović.

On behalf of the Martinović and Cerović families, Niko Martinović, Gig's cousin, thanked.

"The 13th of July is the pinnacle of our historical, ethical and spiritual being. Anti-fascism is the foundation of modern Europe, as well as the foundation of modern and contemporary Montenegro. I think we must be worthy of their legacy, duty and honor. We must be aware that each generation carries its own burden, its own mission, and that each must fulfill its own destiny, in order to leave a mark on itself," said Martinović.
