Ozone: Environmental civic activism has never been more tested

The strengthening of environmental, as well as all other forms of civic activism, is of essential importance for the future of Montenegro, was assessed by the Ozone Environmental Movement.

From that non-governmental organization, on the occasion of November 17 - the World Day of Environmental Movements, they assessed that this is fundamentally important both in the context of the protection of endangered natural resources, primarily space, and when it comes to the further democratization of society, future economic development and integration processes. .

In Ozon, as they state, they are aware that today the most important task of civil society organizations is to be, not only a corrective factor, but a serious actor in decision-making processes at all levels.

"In order to achieve this, it is necessary to provide a certain influence, and not agree to cosmetic performances that serve to present the civil sector in a light inappropriate for this important segment of society, which seems to be the current trend in Montenegro and which can only suit those who found a personal interest in it," the statement said.

It is stated that ecological civic activism has never been more tested, both in the world and in the region.

"We claim this on the basis of fundamental analyzes of the way in which system institutions react to civil initiatives aimed at protecting the right to a healthy environment, which are increasingly present in our country," said Ozon.

They called on the citizens of Montenegro to use all the guaranteed rights, to fight for timely information and to actively participate in decision-making processes concerning the quality of the environment.

"We invite all civil society organizations and everyone who sincerely wants to fight for a better living environment in which the system will guarantee the protection of public interest and respect for valid laws, different cultural, ethical and moral values ​​than those expressed now, which drag us to ruin, to they contribute to those above all humane goals," said Ozon.

As they stated, the Ozone Ecological Movement guarantees that, as before, it will remain "on the only correct side of this, unfortunately, deeply polarized society, on the side of man and nature, because for us there are no compromises when it comes to protecting the public interest." .

"That's why join some of the actions that are organized with the aim of preserving natural wealth, which is the most valuable thing that we have inherited and that we need to preserve for the generations to come, without fear of the pressures that, as before, will always be exerted on ecological and civil activists in moments when someone's private, individual or party interests are threatened," the announcement added.
