The President of the Tivat Municipality Assembly, Ivan Novosel, and the Chief Administrator of the Municipality, Jovanka Laličić, visited today the beneficiaries of the "Care for the elderly" program, for whom the traditional gathering was organized by the municipal Red Cross organization on the occasion of October 1, the International Day of the Elderly.
The event organized at the premises of the Red Cross on Seljanova was also attended by geronto housewives, six of them who take care of slightly less than 60 beneficiaries of the program every day.
The President of SO Tivat, Ivan Novosel, congratulated those gathered on the International Day of the Elderly, emphasizing the intention of the local administration to support this program, which greatly improves the lives of the elderly.
"It has been determined that there is a need to expand this program and increase the number of geronto housewives. I am sure that we will realize this in the coming period. It is also planned that the municipality will earmark two urban plots for the construction of apartments for pensioners. In this way, we would enter into a solution of the housing problem of the elderly in the municipality of Tivat. I hope that in this location in the near future we will get premises that will be intended for the socializing of the elderly population," said Novosel.
The secretary of the municipal organization of the Red Cross Tivat, Duško Božović, greeted those present, pointing out that Tivat is one of the few municipalities that serves the needs of its elderly citizens in this way.
"This program has been moving at an unabated pace for the tenth year in a row, and it is our desire and intention to use it to cover the entire territory of the municipality of Tivat, since it is currently being implemented in two local communities," Božović pointed out.
As a sign of attention, the representatives of the Municipality presented the beneficiaries of the program with appropriate gifts. The "Care for the elderly" program in Tivat was started in 2006.
