The inhabitants of the village of Mahala in Zeta reported that after their appeal to the authorities to protect them from the consequences of gravel separation, which takes place 24 hours a day, the only thing that was achieved was that the crushers were turned off around 23 p.m. every day.
In response to the published data of the Environmental Inspection, that the plant of the company "Montenegro Petrol", which owns a plant for the separation and processing of gravel in Mahala, caused increased air pollution for one day, while the noise level is normal, they state that during working hours it is still high noise and dust.
"The sand dumps are still 40 meters from our houses, and we are sending a picture of the dump in the bed of the Cijevna river as proof of the exploitation of sand from its bed. Surely the sand does not originate from some other river in Montenegro? The mechanization was withdrawn from the trough, probably for a short time...", according to the letter from the locals.
Locals continue to ask the authorities whether the concessionaire respects all points of the concession contract, whether the company has permits for the residential building that it built almost in the riverbed, and whether it meets all the requirements in the field of occupational safety for its employees. "Does the concessionaire have proper permits for workers from abroad, otherwise residents of the aforementioned residential building, and does it have the obligation to employ a certain number of our locals, because in the company that uses our wealth and has millions of inflows, not a single local is employed," he says. in the memo.
The Directorate for Inspection Affairs announced that "the measured condition of the daily noise indicator of the crushing plant in Mahala at three measuring positions meets the standard noise limit levels in accordance with the Decision on determining acoustic zones on the territory of the capital".
The monitoring conducted by the Center for Ecotoxicological Testing at the request of "Montenegro Petrol" included noise in the environment and fourteen-day continuous measurement of suspended particles PM10, in the period from April 28 to May 12 of the current year.
"Are the results considered to be objective in that period, given that the inspection ordered the owner of the separation to perform the measurement...How many rainy days were there during the period when the measurement was performed, did the separation work at full intensity during that measurement period , did both crushers work", the locals ask.
In the letter, the locals state that Rajo Šuškavčević, who said that he had nothing to do with the mentioned company, "although everyone knows that this is not true, he denies himself by stating that former employees are behind this initiative".
"The question arises as to how someone who has no connection with the mentioned company has so much information related to its work. It is true that former employees are also behind the initiative, which can be counted on the fingers of one hand, just as it is true that all the signatories of the famously missing petition, 290 of them, are behind the initiative," the letter states.
