The company Adriatic Marinas-Porto Montenegro donated optical infrastructure to the ornithological reserve Solila near Tivat, with the help of which interested visitors of that protected nature park will be able to enjoy bird watching.
The donation includes optical equipment: binoculars, a stand and binoculars in the value of 1.500 euros, with which the Tivat nature reserve with plant and animal species, primarily ornitho-fauna, can be valorized for tourism.
"With the new equipment, tourists will be able to observe birds on Solili. Together with JP Morsko dobro, the Tivat Tourist Organization and the Municipality of Tivat, we are working on a project for the protection and promotion of Solil, which entails the creation of this location as an ornithological center and tourist destination", said Marija Stanišić from the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds of Montenegro.
"The clients of the marina for superyachts and the nautical resort Porto Montenegro want to explore the Bay of Kotorska in addition to the contents of our tourist product - the ornithological reserve Solila with its historical and cultural heritage has the capacity to be an interesting location for their stay in nature," said Porto Montenegro PR coordinator Kristina Skanata.
111 species of birds have been registered on Solili.
However, the list is far from complete, because every year several new ones are registered for that habitat. Given that 526 bird species have been registered in Europe so far, the number of birds present on this lagoon makes up more than 20 percent of the total number of European bird species.
The importance of the presence of at least 11 species from the Annex and the EU Bird Directive and several globally endangered bird species, such as the plover, Phalacrocorax pygmeus, is particularly noteworthy.
