The budget of the Capital City of Podgorica for 2019 per capita is planned at 331 euros, which is at least twice less than the budgets of the capital cities of the region.
The analysis was done by the consulting company Fidelity from Podgorica. The founder of the company and the author of the analysis, Miloš Vuković, states that the capital Podgorica has the lowest benefits per capita compared to the capitals of Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia.
According to him, Zagreb has the largest budget per capita - an impressive 1.714 euros, followed by Ljubljana with 1.455 euros, while Belgrade has 618 euros per capita.
"Podgorica lags significantly behind these cities, its budget is 331 euros per capita," says Vuković.
The budget of the Capital City of Podgorica for 2019 amounts to 65,3 million euros. The budget of the capital of Slovenia is over 421 million, or almost 6,5 times larger. Approximately the same number of inhabitants live in Podgorica and Ljubljana - in Podgorica, about 200.000, while the population in the capital of Slovenia is about 289.
In the analysis, Vuković adds that the fact that the budget of the Capital City of Podgorica, compared to the region, is the smallest per capita, is more devastating than the fact that the annual budget has decreased by almost 36 million euros in the last ten years.
In 2009, Vuković reminds, the Capital City of Podgorica had 101 million euros at its disposal, which is almost 40 million euros more than the budget that was planned and adopted for the next year.
From the consulting company Fidelity, referring to Monstat data, they remind that in the meantime the number of inhabitants in Podgorica has increased by 12 percent, that in 2009 the capital city had about 177 thousand inhabitants, while today there are almost 200.000.
Vuković adds that, according to some estimates, up to 250 thousand people live in Podgorica today.
In the analysis of the consulting company Fidelity, it is stated that the share of the budget of the Capital City of Podgorica is smaller today compared to the budget 10 years ago.
According to Vuković, in 2009, the budget of the Capital City of Podgorica amounted to 6,24 percent of the national budget. Next year, that share will amount to only 2,74 percent, which is 2,5 times less than a decade ago.
The author of the analysis also points to the fact that, unlike the budget of the Capital City, which is smaller compared to 10 years ago, the state budget in 2019 is larger than in 2009, when it amounted to 1,62 billion. The state budget in 2019 amounts to 2,38 billion euros.
