The Montenegrin National Library "Đurđe Crnojević" presented the National Library of France with a copy of the bibliophile edition of the October 1494-2014 map graphics.
The representative of the Delegate for International Relations of the French National Library, Bruno Sagna, was presented with a gift in Paris by the director of the Montenegrin National Library, Jelena Đurović.
The graphic map of Oktoih 1494-2014 is a project of the National Library organized on the occasion of the 520th anniversary of the printing of the Oktoih First Vocabulary, the first Cyrillic book in Southeast Europe.
It is a graphic map of the famous Montenegrin artist Dimitri Popović, which contains ten graphic sheets and six graphics united in the form of an art book, which is packed in a decent box.
In addition to printing this phototype edition in 100 copies (each copy is numbered, and each sheet is signed by the artist), the National Library organized the first exhibition of this graphic map, i.e. the opening of this unique book on October 16, 2014 at the National Library in Cetinje.
When it comes to the work itself, the graphics are inspired by the letters that make up the name Oktoih, which the artist interprets artistically and symbolically.
"Through this procedure, Dimitrije Popović sublimated tradition and modernity, which can serve as an excellent example for the presentation of our creative heritage," the announcement says.
The exhibition of the graphic map Oktoih 1494-2014 has so far been presented in Zagreb, Brussels, Ljubljana and Belgrade, where one copy of the graphic map was donated to the national libraries there.
