Large quantities of carp are still on the market, despite the fact that since March 15, a fishing ban has been in force in the "Skadar Lake" National Park.
At several locations in Podgorica, you can buy carp at a price of 1,5 to 3,5 euros per kilogram, and one "Vijesti" reader claims that up to four tons of carp were caught the night before last, and that in Tuzi "fish was feasted on houses, because it could not be sold".
The fishing ban in NP Skadarsko jezero, for all types of fish except eel, began on March 15 and will last until June 1, when the spawning season also lasts. This ban is defined by the "Order on fishing bans, restrictions and measures for the protection of fish stocks", issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
NP "Skadarsko jezero" announced that 19 kilograms of carp were seized during the weekend (March 20-120) due to the coordinated actions of the supervisor of the Protection Service of NP "Skadarsko jezero" and members of the Border and Maritime Police.
A gas lamp, a gas bottle, two pieces of spears, a vessel, an outboard motor, a boat trailer, two power converters, a probe and an underwater rifle with spears were also confiscated.
"Three control records were drawn up against four persons. The persons were taken into custody by the competent authorities", announced the NP.
