The company "Čistoća" has announced a tender for the development of the Main Project for the construction of a Shelter for abandoned and lost pets.
The estimated value of the tender is 12.000 euros, and the money will be provided from the Capital City budget.
In the tender documentation, it is stated that the asylum for dogs with accompanying contents includes urban plot 2 from UP "Sanitary landfill with recycling center", total area of 7.898 square meters.
It is stated that, under the built facilities, which currently serve as a shelter for abandoned animals, an area of 1.824 square meters is covered.
"The investor's plan is to keep and use the existing facilities until the newly designed facility with accompanying content is put into operation. The newly designed facility with accompanying content should be located on the remaining vacant part of the plot," the document states.
The main project for the construction of a shelter for abandoned dogs with accompanying infrastructure, as explained, should include facilities with all the necessary facilities, an access road to the facilities within the site, electric power infrastructure, hydrotechnical infrastructure as well as horticultural arrangement of the site.
The shelter for dogs, according to the project task, should have an administrative building of about 300 square meters, an accommodation area for dogs, which consists of boxes for housing at least 150 dogs and a fenced open area for the animals to stay outside the boxes.
"The fact is that in the last two years there has been an uncontrolled influx of stray dogs in the capital. Due to this situation... and the limited accommodation capacity in the shelter, the necessity of improving the working conditions and increasing the accommodation capacity was imposed", the attached documentation states.
It is stated that the shelter for abandoned and lost pets in Podgorica was founded in 2001 as part of the then Public Utility Company, and since 2004 it has been operating under "Čistoće".
"The Department for Catching and Taking Care of Abandoned Animals is responsible for catching and placing animals in the shelter. The work of catching and taking care of dogs from public areas is carried out daily, and the shelter for abandoned pets is intended exclusively for the accommodation of stray dogs from the territory of Podgorica", the documentation states. The public opening of bids will be held on March 2 at 12 noon, in the premises of the company "Čistoća".
