The Minister of Health, Budumir Šegrt, today visited nurse Mirjana Celić Bakić at her home in the Beran settlement Dolac and wished her a speedy recovery from the injury she sustained the night she saved the life of a newborn baby.
That night, Mirjana was accompanying the baby who was transported from Beran to the Clinical Center in Podgorica due to congenital heart complications. Near the Clinical Center, near the Vektra building, on the roundabout, a traffic accident occurred in which a nurse was seriously injured.
The driver and the child who was in the incubator were uninjured, and Mirjana, although injured, managed to transfer the child to the clinic and only then lost consciousness due to a concussion and cervical vertebrae injury.
The Minister of Health thanked Mirjana for her noble and human act.
"Mirjana's nobility exceeds the level of humanity, and this is evidenced by the fact that she suffered a serious injury," said Šegrt.
Mirjana repeated that she was just doing her job and following the Hiopocrates oath, and that she was sure that all her colleagues would do the same.
After ten days of hospital treatment at the neurology clinic in Berane, Mirjana is recovering from her injuries in the company of her family.
