The project of the non-governmental organization (NGO) National Association of Raspberry Growers Andrijevica, worth 16 thousand euros, will train six persons with disabilities (PWD) from the north to work in raspberry growing.
The project "Raspberry farming - green business - employment of persons with disabilities in the municipalities of Bijelo Polje, Mojkovac, Berane, Andrijevica, Plav and Rožaje" is implemented by the NGO National Association of Raspberry Growers in Andrijevic in partnership with the NGO National Association of Raspberry Growers of Montenegro, through a grant from the Employment Institute of Montenegro ( ZZZCG).
The representative of the NGO National Association of Raspberry Growers of Montenegro, Dajana Femić, said that the implementation of the project begins with the opening of workshops for project participants, which will be held from February 18 to June 18 in Bijelo Polje.
"The training will last four months, and will consist of a theoretical, practical part and a knowledge test. All our candidates will pass a knowledge test and receive a certificate of professional training for work in the raspberry industry," said Femić in the PR Center.
The representative of the NGO Association of Raspberry Growers Andijevica, Radoš Đurišić, explained that the specific goals of the project are the promotion of raspberry growing as a strategic agricultural branch, sustainable development of "green" agriculture, acquisition of entrepreneurial knowledge, breaking prejudices about PWDs for more successful management of green business, application of modern technology in orchards .
As he said, the general goal of the project is to strengthen social inclusion and reduce unemployment by empowering PWDs.
"So that they can fully enjoy their rights and benefit fully from participation in society and the economy of the community through professional training to their own business - by generating new jobs through sustainable self-employment in the municipalities of Bijelo Polje and Mojkovac, Berane, Andrijevica, Plav and Rožaje," he said. is Đurišić.
The purpose of the project, as Đurišić said, is to increase the number of new jobs through sustainable self-employment of PWDs, who have a certificate of remaining working capacity and are on the records of ZZZ ČR Montenegro - regional units of Bijelo Polje and Berane.
He pointed out that their intention is to expand the project to Petnjica and Gusinje.
Stanko Laković, the adviser for the employment of PWDs in ZZZCG, said that on November 3 last year, that institution announced a public call for proposals for employment projects for persons with disabilities, professional rehabilitation and active employment policies for those persons.
As part of this public call, as he clarified, the activities that could be financed are the adaptation of the workplace, the removal of barriers to access to the workplace, as well as measures and activities related to active employment policies - education and training of adults.
"According to this public call, ZZZCG approved 53 projects, with a total value of two million euros, including the project of the National Association of Andrijevica," said Laković.
Marija Krstić from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the department started 15 years ago with a project aimed at the development of raspberry growing in Montenegro, and that two years ago the interest of citizens from the north in this branch of agriculture began to grow.
She believes that the project of the National Association of Raspberry Growers is sustainable, and that it is good that PWDs are included in it.
"Raspberry cultivation is quite simple, it does not require excessive physical sacrifices, and that's why I consider this project idea sustainable," said Krstić.
