The successful protection of children from violence and exploitation is a reflection of the civilizational maturity of the community, it was assessed at the inter-ministerial meeting organized by the Government and UNICEF Offices in Montenegro.
The meeting on the topic "Protection of children from violence and exploitation" was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković.
"We see the integrated functioning of all institutions to improve the mechanisms for realizing children's rights as a key support in protecting children from violence and exploitation, or - if there are no results - as one of the possible problems in the system," Marković pointed out.
He emphasized that the issue of the position of the child is significant from the aspect of the overall development of society, and reminded that UNICEF was an important partner in the implementation of government policies in that area, which, as he stated, should be implemented in the future, with the aim of creating a social environment recognized as child-friendly. environment.
"Protecting children from violence and exploitation is an activity that implies an undivided proactive approach by the competent departments and requires urgency in dealing with it, so in that direction I expect meetings at the appropriate level twice a year, so that we, as a responsible government, monitor the efficiency and maturation of institutions that deal with the care of children", concluded Marković.
The interlocutors agreed on key aspects of future work, such as the prevention of violence in early childhood, the issue of correlation of violence with later health problems of the victims, the necessity of synchronizing health and social welfare institutions.
As announced, this also refers to identifying peer violence in the community, recognizing the role of the ombudsman for children, personnel profiling and improvement of services that work with children, as well as the establishment of multidisciplinary teams in all Montenegrin municipalities.
Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Zorica Kovačević, Head of the UNICEF Office Benjamin Perks, Director of the Institute for Social and Child Protection Drago Spaić, Minister of Justice Zoran Pažin, Minister of Human and Minority Rights Suad Numanović took part in the discussion.
The protector of human rights and freedoms, Šućko Baković, the president of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights, Halil Duković, the head of the World Health Organization office, Mina Brajović, as well as representatives of several ministries, also participated.
