The number of students who are interested in studying abroad is increasing, and this year, about 300 higher education students received scholarships that the Ministry of Education has access to, it was announced from that government department.
"The number of students who are interested in studying abroad is increasing every year. "Students regularly contact the Ministry of Education when it comes to competitions in which the Ministry is directly involved, because the application of students is made through the Ministry," the Ministry announced.
As the MINA agency was informed by that department, students from Montenegro are primarily interested in countries where knowledge of the English language is required, followed by Italy, Turkey, Great Britain, Slovenia and Croatia.
"Given that scholarship programs cover almost all faculties, students' interest is equally focused on all study programs," the Ministry said.
As they state, the mobility program of academic staff and students is implemented continuously, given that competitions based on multilateral, bilateral cooperation and competitions for scholarships offered by foreign governments - organizations are published throughout the year.
"This year, about 300 students received scholarships that the Ministry has insight into, because it is included in the application process. It should be borne in mind that a number of candidates for certain programs apply directly to scholarship providers, so it is not possible to track their number," said the Ministry.
They explain that the mobility program implies a semester-long study stay of three to ten months, or a shorter study stay of one to three months.
The Ministry announced that the scholarships, in the distribution of which representatives of that department also participate, are scholarships from France, Belgium (French language courses), Italy, Hungary, Japan, Slovakia and Slovenia, while candidates apply directly to foreign donors or embassies for other scholarships.
"Regarding scholarships from foreign governments that refer to complete education, very often candidates apply directly to scholarship providers (online or through embassies), if so stated in the competition," the Ministry states.
They also state that there is a great interest of foreign students in coming to Montenegro. "Especially for study stays through the CEEPUS program, and the most interested were the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Political Sciences, then the Faculty of Law and Economics of the University of Montenegro".
As they said, the Ministry regularly informs Montenegrin universities about the possibilities of applying for a large number of scholarships, for all academic levels.
"Which particular countries, such as the Russian Federation, France, Italy, Belgium - French language courses, Hungary, Japan, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, China, Turkey, which award annual scholarships or countries such as: Greece, Romania, Ukraine, Poland , Azerbaijan and others that occasionally award scholarships", they add from that government department.
As the Ministry said, the current mobility programs are CEEPUS program (student exchange program from Central Europe), bilateral exchange program with Slovenia, bilateral exchange program with Croatia, ERASMUS + EU mobility program (Basileus, Join EU SEE and Sigma), UGRAD- global student exchange program (USA), IFMSA – International Federation of Medical Student Associations (mobility program for students of the Faculty of Medicine), scholarships for professional practice.
There are also current scholarships within the framework of interuniversity cooperation, the Visegrad scholarship program (an alliance formed by 4 countries from Central Europe: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), Go Styria (a scholarship program for students from Southeastern Europe, formed in Graz), DAAD (Germany service for academic exchange whose representative office is in Belgrade, for Serbia and Montenegro).
