The Ministry of Health announced that a continuous medical education plan for doctors and mid-level medical staff will be implemented in all health care institutions this year.
Today, Minister Budimir Šegrt spoke with the directors of health institutions, and at the meeting the unique Plan of continuous medical education in the health system of Montenegro was presented.
"Taking into account the speed of changes in medical knowledge, innovations in the diagnostic and therapeutic approach, the necessity of constant improvement of the quality of work and monitoring of modern medical trends, the Ministry of Health recognized the lack of continuous education of medical personnel as a leading problem," the Ministry announced.
As stated, the concept of continuous medical education was designed as a legal obligation of healthcare institutions and employees in the healthcare system, which aims to apply modern trends and knowledge in a timely and active manner in daily work in the healthcare system.
"With this goal, a comprehensive unique plan of continuous medical education for all levels of health care in Montenegro, both for doctors and for mid-level medical staff, was created, which will be implemented in all health institutions during 2016," it is said in announcement.
As stated, the plan foresees lectures and demonstration courses, both for all areas of clinical medicine and for public health activities.
For these needs, lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica will be engaged, as eminent experts from the country and the region.
It is added that the meeting also discussed the obligations and activities of health institutions this year.
"The apprentice said that the common goal of all health institutions is to improve the health system in all segments through permanent education of medical staff at all levels of health care, reduction of hospital beds and improvement of hospital infrastructure," the Ministry announced.
In this way, as Šegrt said, modern principles of healthy, safe and high-quality medical practice will be established and quality and accessible health care will be provided to all citizens, as the ultimate goal of every modern and sustainable health system.
"The apprentice reminded that for this purpose, strategic documents were brought and adopted, the goal of which is to overcome the existing recognized weaknesses and upgrade the system according to scientific and technological requirements, all with the aim of establishing a financially sustainable health system that will provide the appropriate quality of health services and greater safety the patient", says the announcement.
