As the meteorological trend has changed in recent years, and ski seasons start later and later, the Kolašin ski center is planning to upgrade the system for making artificial snow, which is the only winter center in Montenegro that they have.
However, as they say, about half a million euros is needed for something like that, and they don't have that money at the moment. So that the lack of snow would no longer affect the tourist offer from which everyone benefits, they invite the local administration and businessmen in that city to get involved in the realization of this idea.
"Our system is limited to only the lower part of the trail. Regardless, systems for artificial snowmaking of trails are not omnipotent and cannot work in all conditions. First of all, the temperature conditions must be met," says Boban Šćepanović from the Jezerine ski center.
For the construction of that system, about half a million euros is needed on one track about two kilometers long. The minimum temperature to make artificial snow is -2 degrees, and for that you need to have enough water and electricity, but that's not all.
"It is necessary to build the entire pipeline, it is necessary to provide it with the necessary pumps, appropriate electrical installation. Cannons arrive only one segment that is visible, and then people who are averagely informed identify the entire system for the production of artificial snow only with cannons," Šćepanović told TV Vijesti.
This ski center, says Šćepanović, currently has no money for such an investment. That's why they call on the local administration and businessmen to help build the system at the ski resort, from which everyone benefits.
"In solving these problems, the entire tourism industry, the entire tourist community should be involved in order to identify some points where we can achieve results and then we all get involved and work together on the implementation of such projects," says Šćepanović.
The local administration informed us that they do not have the money to support such a project. The realization of this idea will probably have to wait until the opening of the second Kolašin ski center in two years, the project of which envisages the creation of a system for making snow on the trails and networking both ski centers.
