With songs from the National Liberation War, with red pioneer scarves, a large number of Bijelo Polje citizens celebrated November 29, Republic Day, last night in the Bijelo Polje Cultural Center.
A concert of songs from the famous National Liberation War in cooperation with the Association of Fighters of the National Liberation War (UBNOR) of Bijelo Polje was organized by the non-governmental organization "Musical Heritage", marking the 75th anniversary of the Second Session of AVNOJ in Jajce, when a decision was made on the federal structure of the state.
President of the Union of Associations of Fighters of the National Liberation War (SUBNOR) and anti-fascist academician Zuvdija Hodžić said that Republic Day was one of the biggest holidays in the former SFRY, which was a beacon among states, a land of freedom, justice, equality of nations and nationalities, brotherhood and unity.
"We loved her more than others and we grieved for her more than others, but we could not defend her together with all those who loved her. We did more than was possible, we saved Montenegro, for the first time in its history, in a peaceful way , without battles and deaths for the interests of others, to the detriment of our own. That is why we are stronger today than yesterday and that is why we will be stronger tomorrow than today," said Hodžić.
He pointed out that people lived in Montenegro, while others dreamed of freedom and that they will continue to live.
"And we will live, freely, under our flag, the one from Vučje dol and the one with the hammer and sickle, and the tricolor with the pentagram, united in red with the double-headed eagle and the lion, before which we swear and vow to Montenegro, the one in whose chest beats the partisan heart, in which, like tonight, we remember historical events with partisan songs," he said.
The President of the Municipal Assembly (SO) of BIjelo Polje, Abaz Dizdarević, said that we often forget the days and sacrifices that gave their lives for freedom.
"The victory over fascism represents the crowning achievement of human civilization, because it is defined as a symbol of the victory of light over darkness," said Dizdarević.
At the concert, soloists and reciters performed in front of the city choir.
