The interventions of all the city services of Tivat during last week's big storm were timely and of high quality, which is why there were no serious consequences in that city - it was assessed today at the joint press conference of the management of the Protection and Rescue Service, the Communal and the Water and Sewerage Company.
"The interventions took place in a coordinated action and with the excellent cooperation of all teams on the field, so no major material damage was caused, and also the police of OB Tivat were on the field all the time and provided us with assistance," said the commander of SZS Tivat Zoran Barbić.
Although the people of Tivat promptly cleaned and widened all the drainage canals in Tivatsko polje, the huge mass of water that came into them from the area of the Industrial Zone of Kotor caused the Adriatic highway next to the airport and the local road to Radovići to flood. There was from 0,6 to as much as one meter of water on the road, from which firefighters pulled out six stuck vehicles, after which traffic was interrupted for several hours. The Municipal, Vodovod and SZS warned yesterday that the same thing could happen again during the next heavy rainfall due to the large number of buried drainage channels in the area of the industrial zone of Kotor, as a result of which large amounts of water from that area of the neighboring municipality almost all end up in the channels on the Tivat part, which , although cleaned and completely passable, simply do not have enough capacity to accept all that water.
"We pointed out these problems to our colleagues from Kotor, visited the field and recorded where the problems are, and we expect them to take the necessary measures in their territory as soon as possible," the leaders of Tivat's city services told reporters.
Director of Komunalno Vlado Đukić said that the company is faced with the problem of a dilapidated and non-functioning vehicle fleet, which is burdened with the removal of garbage to the distant Možura landfill near Ulcinj.
"This summer we got by by borrowing a garbage truck from our colleagues from Kotor, so no one in the city felt the problems we are facing, but if it stays like this, we will not be ready for the next season. We are counting on the help of the Municipality to renew the fleet, and the plan is to instead of one new garbage truck that costs 220 thousand euros, they buy three used ones with a larger capacity of 23 to 25 tons of payload, which individually cost 50 to 60 thousand euros. is not worth repairing. We absolutely have to buy a new construction machine-combiner because the existing one is worn out, and it means a lot to us, especially in such extraordinary circumstances as during the storm," said Đukić, adding that all of this together costs about 280 euros and that they expect that money for equipping the Communal will be provided in the Municipality's budget for the following year.
"I hope that we deserve so much because we count ourselves and write and praise that we are Monaco. If we are Monaco, then the city must be clean and we must have adequate working conditions," Đukić pointed out. He added that the agreement with the company "Čistoća" from Herceg Novi is in progress, according to which the citizens of Tiv would in the future dispose of their waste at the Herceg Novi landfill Žanjev to Orjena instead of Možura, which would be cheaper and more efficient for them because it would depositing one ton of garbage with all costs, cost from 32 to 35 euros.
Vodovod reduced the volumes taken from the Regional Vodovod, increased the charge
Director of Waterworks and Sewerage, Alen Krivokapić, said that in the past period they reduced the amount of water they took from the Regional Waterworks, and increased it from local springs.
"We pumped the same amount of water into the system as last year in the first 10 months. We increased the amount of invoiced water. The hydrological situation was in our favor, so this year we used local sources more and we increased the water specifically from Plavda because Topliš is due to unreliability we do not use. We have reduced the amount of water from the Regional Waterworks by 9 percent, the total invoiced amount is 5 percent higher. We are continuously working to reduce losses, which have been reduced by 3 percent so far," he said.
