The environmental organizations Ozon and Breznica called on the competent institutions to devote themselves to solving the problem of air pollution in Pljevlja, because the measures that were supposed to reduce the level of air pollution experienced an absolute failure.

In those environmental organizations, they believe that occasional and individual reactions of activists, journalists and politicians are not enough to solve the problem of air pollution, but mass interest and action are needed.
As announced, the results of the readings of the automatic measuring station for air quality monitoring, which is located on the Gagović estate in Pljevlja, show large exceedances and variations in the hourly values of PM10.
It is stated that an intensive public and reasoned discussion about this alarming environmental problem is necessary, because it causes the most serious diseases, premature deaths, displacement and poverty.
"And this time sympathizing with the citizens of Pljevlja, whose living environment is the most threatened in the ecological state of Montenegro, we cannot help but notice their passivity and expectation that someone else will solve the problem of air pollution or that the air will be purified by itself," it added. in the statement.
As the environmental organizations Ozon and Breznica said, most citizens of Pljevlja who stayed outdoors complained of difficulty breathing.
"We tell citizens to be guided by their own experiences, to trust their own lungs and to take action in order to realize their right to clean air, guaranteed by the Constitution, a large number of valid laws and confirmed international agreements," states the joint statement of Ozon and Breznica.
Those environmental organizations believe that the best indicator of air quality for the citizens of Pljevlja should be their respiratory organs.
"Like many times before, this announcement is not aimed at disturbing or manipulating the public, nor are we driven by the desire for media attention, as is the case with some who, with a political approach, want to draw attention to themselves and through this serious life issue," they said. are from Ozon and Breznica.
They called on the competent institutions to use a proactive approach to timely and continuously inform the citizens of Pljevlja about important details related to air quality.
"By closing the windows and staying in apartments and houses, the health of citizens cannot be protected," the statement said.
It is stated that the short-term and medium-term measures that were supposed to reduce the level of air pollution experienced a total debacle in practice.
Ozon and Breznica called on all relevant institutions to seriously and carefully address this alarming life problem of the citizens of Pljevlja.
"With the international SOS signal for help, we call on the relevant international institutions, and especially the European Union (EU), with whom we are in the process of negotiations, to contribute to solving the problem of air pollution in Pljevlje, because the environment has no borders, and unfortunately neither do the consequences of pollution," it concludes. in the announcement.
