Freshly cut pine trees, a pile of garbage and waste can be seen on the Ćemovsko polje near the Livestock Market. The pines are cut down to the roots or two meters above the ground.
"Vijesti" reporters were convinced, two days ago, that some pine trees were cut down recently, some fell probably due to the wind, and there were trees ready to be taken away.
The situation is not any better in the forest across from the Aluminum Plant either, that is, the wood thieves are not resting there either, as evidenced by numerous tree stumps.
"Unfortunately, this is a regular occurrence, and especially now that the heating season is going on, it is more frequent. I haven't seen anyone cutting down trees, but I come across logs ready for loading," said local resident Blažo Pavićević to "Vijesta".
The NGO "Green Home" told "Vijesta" that they had not recently received a report regarding illegal logging in Ćemovsko Polje or at another location in the city.
"Vijesti" has previously written on several occasions about the "campaigns" of forest thieves in Ćemovsko polje, and in January of last year "Zelenil" registered as many as 55 cut trees next to the main road to Petrovac.
In addition to Ćemovsko and Zelenica, forest thieves often target the forest in Zlatica.
