The Government of Montenegro has given consent for the transfer of the military facility "Trebjesa" in Nikšić to the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare for the construction of a Home for the elderly and pensioners, with an area of 50.640 square meters.

"Due to the large number of pensioners (about 16.000) and other elderly persons in the municipality of Nikšić, as well as the two neighboring municipalities of Plužine and Šavnik, there is a strong need to open a Home. Accommodation for the elderly can currently be realized in three residential institutions: Ju Dom Starih Grabovac in Risno, the "Bijelo Polje" Nursing Home in Bijelo Polje and the "Komanski Most" Special Institution, which is intended for the accommodation of adults and elderly disabled persons. The existing facilities are not able to respond to current needs, and especially cannot provide accommodation for the elderly with dementia and mental problems," the explanation reads.

For the implementation of this project, the Government has financial support through the Regional Housing Program, through which the construction of 62 apartments in Nikšić for displaced persons is already being implemented.
