The director of the Tourism Organization Podgorica (TOP), Tatjana Popović-Dmitrović, believes that much more needs to be invested in the capital's natural potential, which is why they organized the "Let's go to Morača" event.
She announced that today, at 16:XNUMX p.m., on the Galeb city beach, under the Moscow Bridge, with "watermelons from 'cold Morača'" and chess on the shore, the old spirit of the famous Podgorica bathing area will be revived.
"The capital city and our organization invite all citizens to visit Galeb beach tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and help us popularize this natural potential," said Popović-Dmitrović.
He claims that this idea was imposed by tourists, who praised Podgorica for its preserved rivers, which are not found in other world cities.
"People have had enough of concrete, and we have almost untouched nature in the center of the city, which no one pays attention to." By popularizing this place, we might also attract investors, who would recognize the potential of Morača", she said.
She pointed out that the idea was immediately supported by the capital and activated the "Cleanliness" and "Zelenila" services, which have been cleaning the beach for days.
Members of the "Morača" Kayaking Club, whose premises are located in the former beach bar, joined in cleaning the beach.
"The event was supported by the Secretariat for Culture and Sports, which, along with the kayakers, will organize a series of sports activities, as well as the Health Center, which will measure blood pressure and blood sugar levels for free," said Popović-Dmitrović.
She announced more similar events in the future, which will promote the spirit of old Podgorica.
The first of them will be the promotion of the city tavern "Radovče", which for years has been "guarding the spirit of Podgorica" in the city center.
Debate over the name
Ever since the event was announced, citizens have been arguing on social media about the name of the famous beach - Galeb or Labud.
"In the past few days, we contacted all Podgorica chroniclers, residents of Staro Podgorica and citizens who might know the answer. ON the old photographs of the beach in Titograd, it is written that the name of the beach is 'Galeb', but some chroniclers also use the name 'Swan' in their books. It also confuses the famous object of Vukota Tupa Vukotić, made in the shape of a swan", said Popović-Dmitrović.
