The seven-day event "Days of the Diaspora", which takes place in Rožaj, opened with an exhibition of paintings by the artist Amira Nurković from Sarajevo, the daughter-in-law of the President of the Municipality, Ejup Nurković.
Nurković is the wife of Ejup's brother.
She is an amateur painter for whom this is her first independent exhibition.
The setting was of a sales nature.
On the website of the Municipality of Rožaje, it is written that Nurković has been painting for five or six years and that she is a "top artist".
"Amira Nurković is recognized as a top artist and her activities have received a lot of attention from art lovers... and she has shown herself to the Rožaj audience as a top artist in painting", according to the website of the Rožaj Municipality. Allegedly, she previously participated in five joint exhibitions.
One of them is mentioned on Google, the exhibition of amateur painters in the Sarajevo Art Center Facta, in April this year, on the occasion of the successful completion of the painting workshop led by Branka Turkić. Nurković is also mentioned as the author of unique scarves and scarves, and judging by her Facebook profile, she is really successful in that business.
Rožaj painters believe that Nurković's name, work, and quality did not deserve her exhibition to be held during the "Diaspora Days" event.
The director of the Sulejman-Beća Kujević Center for Culture said that Nurković contacted herself with the desire to make an exhibition in her husband's hometown.
"I consulted with competent Rožaj painters who assessed that the quality of her work deserves such attention," said Kujević. He added that he does not know if Almira is the sister-in-law of the President of the Municipality. The phone of the President of the Municipality was switched off yesterday, which is why it was not possible to get his comment.
