The landscapes of the Kučka mountains and lakes and the excitement that can only be provided by driving through inaccessible terrains graced today's safari jeep tour in the newly declared regional park "Komovi".
Such an experience was organized by the Tourist Organization of Podgorica (TOP) for representatives of the media, city companies, mountaineers and other nature lovers, in order to promote this type of tourism.
On many sections, the jeeps passed through beautiful areas of untouched nature.
"A safari jeep is currently the most popular and most sought after in the world, because it is the best way to see the hidden natural beauty of a locality in a short time and in comfort, such as in this case the Kučke planina", said the director of the Tourism Organization of the Capital City, Tatjana Popović. - Dmitrovic.
11 jeeps from the company "Autounia", the police and the "Podgorica" health center participated in the safari.
The column started in front of the church of St. Đorđe pod Gorica, then reached the first destination - Bukumir lake, via Kuč.
There, the participants of the safari, 40 kilometers from Podgorica and 1.443 meters above sea level, commented on the famous legend about the Bukumirs and the rock.
The indescribable landscapes of the Kučka katuns were already visible on the way up to the lake, while a group of jeeps passed the villages of Medun, Ubli, Kržanja, Krivi Do, Stravče, Kastrat and Treskavac.
Tourist guide Miroslav Nikezić drove at the head of the column and explained to the tour participants every interesting detail of Katun, where he himself comes from.
"Now, houses and ancillary buildings for livestock have been built on almost all katuns, but it wasn't always like that," said Nikezić.
He explained that "our old people used to go up to the katuns with cattle only in the summer".
"So the katuns were almost empty, because people stayed in mostly temporary buildings, while the cattle were kept in common pens," said Nikezić.
In several places, the participants of the safari met shepherds, a herd of beautiful horses, which completed the picture of wild and untouched beauty.
In the massif of the Kučki mountains, next to the lakes - Bukumirski and Rikavački, there are over twenty peaks higher than 2.000 meters, which belong to the capital city. That area is a favorite destination of many nature lovers - mountaineers, that is, alpinists, because many peaks represent a real challenge for sport climbing.
After the Bukumir lake, the convoy of jeeps headed to the observation post on Maglič, a few kilometers from the border with Albania.
From there, there is a wonderful view of Kučki Kom, Prokletije, Vučiji potok, Skadar lake and many other natural beauties of our country.
Journalists, managers and tourism workers reached Lake Rikavački by roads that cannot be passed by an ordinary car.
At the lake, the Jokanović family prepared homemade cakes with honey and cheese for the tourists.
Some even bathed in the unusually warm water of the glacial lake and enjoyed the view of Vila, the mountain that rises above Rikavac.
The day ended with dinner at the ethnic house Lazović on Katun.
The safari ended with a drive through the picturesque canyon of the Cijevna River.
