The Ministry of Justice invited all citizens who have complaints that notaries are involved in transactions with elements of money laundering, to contact that Government department or the Chamber of Notaries.
The Ministry told the Mina-business agency that in the regular supervision of the work of notaries so far, they are not aware of a single case that would indicate that it is a business that has elements of greenbacks.
"The Ministry also did not receive any petition related to this," said the Ministry.
The Mina-business agency was contacted by several citizens who claim that notaries certify greengrocer contracts.
According to them, "greenies" when lending money to citizens at high interest rates, enter into contracts in order to secure their capital. A citizen who takes money from a greengrocer undertakes to return the money with interest within the stipulated period and guarantees it with his property. Such contracts, according to the interlocutors of the Agency, are certified by notaries.
According to the words of its representatives, the Ministry, through regular supervision, controls and reviews notary operations in all segments, and when noticing irregularities in the work of notaries, takes all measures in accordance with the law.
"We use the opportunity to invite all citizens who have such complaints about the work of notaries to contact the Chamber of Notaries and the Ministry of Justice, and you, as journalists, if you have information about specific cases, to bring this information to the attention of the Ministry of Justice, which handles complaints with due care within the scope of their legal powers", said the Ministry.
Greening is, according to the Criminal Code, a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment and a fine, depending on the severity of the offense committed.
Greening is defined in the law as lending money or other consumable items to someone, receiving or contracting for oneself or others a disproportionate property benefit, taking advantage of the poor financial situation, difficult circumstances, necessity, frivolity or insufficient judgment of the injured party.
Until July last year, the police registered 234 greengrocers, of which 37 were labeled as members of organized criminal groups.
