Sleepless nights at the public fountain

Members of more than 1.200 households in Kakaricka Gora, three kilometers from the city center, struggle in various ways to provide water.

Water supply has not yet been built to the households, although some houses were built about thirty years ago.

The locals get their water from one of the sources, from the public fountains in the city, some are also consumers of two individual suppliers or fill the water tanks with tankers from the Capital City.

"It is a shame that since we built the house, which was 30 years ago, we have had no water. The entire village is gone, everyone manages. We mostly buy it or fill it from the only public tap in the settlement, for which we pay bills to the Waterworks", said local resident Dragan Radičević.

He claims that half of the settlement buys water from two families who used pumps to bring water from Ribnica to the pool on the property.

"Congratulations to them, but it would be better if all the locals get organized, pay and ask for help from the Capital City and pay the state," Radičević said.

He pointed out that they did the electricity and the road themselves, without the help of the state, and that they should do the same for the water.

Local resident Ljiljana Nuculović, with twenty five-liter water bottles, goes to the public fountain in the city center every fourth day and in this way provides herself with drinking water, while for hygiene she uses individual suppliers or fills the clear water tank with water supply tanks.

"We took the water that we use for hygiene from two neighbors. We paid for everything that was necessary for the implementation of that water, and now we pay 1 euros per cubic meter for that water. For the cisterns that we buy from "Vodovod", half is paid by the state in the summer. In winter, we pay the entire amount," said Nuculović.

She said that they are three kilometers from the city center, and former mayor Miomir Mugoša promised to have four public fountains, but nothing has happened yet.

He claims that those who keep livestock have the hardest time, because they need a lot of water.

"When we kept cattle, we needed at least eight cisterns of water just for the cattle," said Nuculović.

There is not enough water at the public fountain, and the locals claim that they have to refill the water from two to four after midnight, when there is good pressure. However, local resident Saša Popović claims that it is not a public fountain, but that's what they call it, because it is next to the road.

"It is known exactly who can take water from that fountain. It is subscribed to by 15 users who pay their bills to Vodovod. However, there are also plenty of those who don't pay, and pour water there," said Popović.

He added that there is not enough water at the fountain and that they have to use a pump to increase the capacity, and pour in the evening and early morning hours.

"Last year, I initiated the resolution of this problem at the Secretariat for Communal Affairs and Traffic, but they are procrastinating and mentioning some technical solutions," Popović pointed out.

Completed documentation, investment maybe in 2016

Water supply and shortages are difficult for Kakaricka Gora resident Veselin Jadžić, who claims that the water supplied by tankers is expensive.

He said that because of this, water is supplied from the mentioned fountain in the settlement or it goes to the nearby source of Peuta.

"We have to get up early in order to provide water, because during the day there is almost none," said Jadžić.

The technical director of "Waterworks and Sewerage" Filip Makrid recently said that the project documentation for the waterworks on Kakaricka Gora has been prepared.

He said that it is realistic to plan this investment for next year.

Makrid pointed out that the estimated value of the project documentation, which was done at the level of the main project, amounts to between 800 and 850 thousand euros.
