"Montenegro's Antalya, a few decades ago was Bar. The infrastructure, geographical location and climate are something that made sports clubs, especially football clubs, from the surrounding area decide to prepare in Bar. Crvena zvezda, Partizan were regular visitors to our city, where they performed winter preparations. Today, with the exception of individual cases, there is no such type of tourism in Bar," stated Dragan Tufegdžić, a member of the Initiative Committee of Bar Democrats, in a statement.
Democrats are surprised that there is no initiative to revive such an offer.
"The municipality of Bar, as someone who owns and manages the property of the Sports Center, football and other fields, is obliged to do everything in its power to revitalize this tourist offer. By opening a dialogue with Bar hoteliers, TO Bar would also be included as bearer of the tourism branding of Bar, an attempt must be made to create an offer that would complement the existing one and that could attract guests from the region, i.e. sports clubs."
Democrats wonder why clubs go to Turkey when the Bar can offer them similar conditions.
"If the goal is to extend the season, such a tourism product as a result of dialogue would bring tangible and visible benefits to the city and hoteliers. Clubs from the region, at affordable prices, with accommodation and sports infrastructure, which is still good in Bar, I believe would be happy chose our city as a destination where they would make preparations. The construction of another auxiliary stadium, next to the main one, would increase the capacity of this type of offer.
