Nešković: It's as if they want to drive away even these few tourists

Tourists in Sutomotro at the beginning of the season dexpects a surprise in the form of signs warning of road works, construction machines, noise, dust and of course the inevitable traffic jams, he notes Milan Nešković, member of the Initiative Committee of the Bar Democrats.

"We agree that it would be wrong to say that the works on the reconstruction of the intersection in Sutomore are not useful for removing the traffic congestion that every year causes columns of vehicles that can stretch for kilometers, but the question arises why the works were started in the season itself despite the ban construction works? Couldn't the reconstruction be done before the season, during the winter period, or that the works be done after the end of this season, as common sense dictates, and not right now at the peak of the season," Nešković said in a statement.

He states that this decision of the competent authorities is incomprehensible and is repeated year after year, "as if there really is an intention to drive away even the few tourists who come to our beautiful coast".

"It is unacceptable that the consequences for public transport, the citizens who go to work every day, the delivery of goods to restaurateurs and above all the most important thing, the image that is created in the eyes of tourists, were not taken into account. We from Democratic Montenegro believe that as long as the season is welcomed in this way, our tourism will not and cannot be better. Excavators, trenches and dust must be replaced by greenery and tidiness, and the "Work in progress" sign must be replaced by a "WELCOME" sign, as befits a beautiful and orderly tourist destination, as Sutomore aspires to be," it concludes.
