The club of councilors of the Democrats of the Capital submitted to the Assembly of the Capital a proposal for a Decision on determining the obligation to provide free schoolchildren for students of all elementary schools in the territory of the Capital of Cetinje.
"Keeping in mind that the economic power of the citizens of the capital is at a very low level, primarily due to the huge number of unemployed, we believe that the adoption of this Decision would be very significant for all parents whose children attend primary education, especially for those who have two or more primary school children , so they have to set aside a few hundred euros each year for textbooks and other resources for the school," said Danilo Mrvaljević, president of the Club of Councilors of the Prijestonica Democrats.
He states that this decision will not solve "all the problems of Cetinje", but that he is convinced that it is a significant and good basis to start thinking in the direction of work on improving the social environment.
He expects the decision to be adopted unanimously.
"This is just one of a series of measures that must be taken urgently in order to improve the demographic picture of the Capital, because the situation has been alarming for a long time," says Mrvaljević.
He points out that the funds for the implementation of the proposed Decision can be provided without difficulties and additional allocations, by legal, rational and household management of the budget.
"Specifically - by simply reducing the costs of representation and travel of officials and local government officials to a minimum, and certainly by better allocation of funds within the budget for each next fiscal year. Because, you will admit, only a few thousand euros from the budget of the Capital to the entire education, while other transfers amount to tens and hundreds of thousands of euros, not exactly the happiest distribution".
Mrvaljević states that the opposition will support the proposal, and that at the Collegium, the president of the Club of Councilors of the DPS, Borislav Pravilović, promised that the Decision will also receive the support of the ruling coalition.
