On the occasion of the European Day of Parks, on May 24, the "Perun" cycling club, the "Petrović Njegoš" foundation, the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection and the ecological horticulture club "Bajice" organized an afforestation campaign in the Trebjese forest park. Volunteers of Montenegro, triathlon club "Nikšić" and Club of military mountaineers also joined the action. In the action, 200 pine seedlings donated by the Forestry Administration were planted, and the youngest participants were four-year-old Luka Milatović and Irina Marojević.
From "Perun" they recalled the importance of Trebjesa and the richness of its flora and fauna.
"On about 156 hectares, there are more than 200 herbaceous and 40 woody plants, among which are 15 endemic species of the Balkan Peninsula. Many animal species are on the European and world Red Lists, some of them are covered by international conventions, and the presence of endemic species has also been recorded. Research has established the existence of six species of snails, 58 species of insects, 54 species of birds, as well as the presence of 14 species of mushrooms, some of which have the status of internationally important species", said the director of "Perun" Ana Petrović.
