On May 21, on Independence Day, the NGO Euromost received photos of tents and containers in the town of Braunschweig, which were additionally set up after the registration of a large number of asylum seekers and the lack of space in the buildings of the reception center in this town. Citizens from the north of Montenegro who traveled to Germany in the last 15 days because of "hunger and poverty, the same citizens who fought for our country's independence in 2006" live in these centers, as Euromost announced. "Has it been forgotten that without those citizens and their "yes" we would not have our country? Has the country forgotten about its citizens? Did we fight for our people to leave to suffer?", stated in the statement of Euromost.
Euromost states that the last four places warn that something should be done, "besides the attempt to cover up the mass departure of citizens from the north by the representatives of the Government".
"The problem is national because the population is leaving us, leaving our country, starving, facing serious economic problems, and it is still not serious for the Government of Montenegro. Representatives of the Government of Montenegro must go public and admit that the situation is alarming and come to the north among the citizens , to talk with them and to make sure of the real situation on the spot and to see how to help them to stay in their country," the announcement reads.
They once again call on the Government of Montenegro to finally take the whole situation of mass departure seriously and to start solving this problem together with local self-governments and citizens.
"Has anyone in the north asked us how we celebrated Independence Day this year, while thousands of our citizens are under tents and containers in other countries, where they are waiting for alms to feed their children, does anyone in this country wonder who now he is taking care of them, we are now asking the representatives of the Government if these tents and containers and this folk hut in the photos are the tourist places where citizens from the north go, which were mentioned in public by the representatives of the Government.
