Cetinje: Reopened pedestrian path on Đinovo brdo

The hiking trail on Đinovo brdo above Cetinje, which was built during the reign of King Nikola, has reopened its doors to nature lovers, thanks to the members of the Sports Mountaineering Club "Soko".

The club announced that the 2,5 kilometer long track is a true natural gem of the Cetinje region, which has been left to the ravages of time for the past few decades.

"Due to such circumstances, it was also unavailable for use," said SPK "Soko".

They explain that in December of last year, the first actions to adapt and rehabilitate the track began.

"Several months of work included the removal of waste, the rehabilitation of hard-to-pass sections, the removal of vegetation and the marking of the path itself, as well as the installation of an inventory and an authentic signpost. In this way, this pedestrian path, which is more than a century old, was given another opportunity to be a gathering place of all lovers of nature, who will find the source of their inspiration there," said the club.

Dušan Kaluđerović from that club points out that the ceremony, which was supported by the "Gojko Kruška" scouting unit, was attended by a large number of Cetinje residents and guests from other Montenegrin cities.

"The symbolic cutting of the ribbon was left to the youngest members of the Club. Đinovo brdo, on which this footpath is located, was also sung in Gorski vijenc, but many anecdotes were also connected to it, most of which have died out to this day. That path of extinction was also started the path itself, which leads to the summit with seprentines, but thanks to the members of the Sports Mountaineering Club 'Soko', it has been removed from that path. The adaptation of the path is a gift from the Club to all nature lovers," said Kaluđerović.

He added that the members of SPK "Soko", as lovers of nature, spend most of their time on high mountains, but that they also strive to be socially useful.

"We have behind us a large number of actions aimed at raising environmental awareness among citizens and affirming mountaineering as a form of recreation among young people. SPK "Soko" will continue with similar actions in the coming period, as well as organizing mountaineering tours in the country and abroad, which represents priority in his work," said Kaluđerović.
