Positive Montenegro invites the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Budimir Šegrt to investigate the allegations from today's press about the alleged smuggling of cancer drugs.

As stated in the announcement of Srđan Perić, member of the Committee for Health, Labor and Social Welfare and MP, Šegrt's public reaction is needed above all for the purpose of establishing the factual situation, but also to establish full trust in the relationship between patients and the overall health system.

"If there is truth in the newspaper inscriptions that the special unit of the Milan police in the action against the trade in stolen drugs also located wholesalers in Montenegro, it is necessary to determine whether someone was repackaging these drugs in violation of all legal regulations, and whether they were sold or recommended on the market or placed them through any public procurement procedure in Montenegro. It is also necessary to determine whether these drugs, if they came to Montenegro, were stored and transported in accordance with all the procedures they require, and how were effective for the purpose for which they were produced," states Perić.

He believes that the minister's reaction is necessary in order not to further undermine confidence in the Montenegrin health system.

"In this sense, it is necessary to raise the quality control of medicines to a higher level and to inform the public in a timely manner about this process, especially for the reason that there would be no complacency in patients suffering from cancer", it is concluded.
