A small amount of vaccines against measles, mumps and rubella will arrive today at "Montefarm" and will be immediately delivered to health institutions.
This was announced by "Montefarm", pointing out that the delivery of BCG (be-se-ze) vaccines arrived two days ago, which were sent to health institutions in Podgorica and Nikšić, while the distribution is ongoing in other municipalities.
They claim that they also received vaccines against diphtheria and tetanus for children up to seven years old and high school students, which they passed on to the institutions. Tuberculosis vaccine (BCG), which babies receive at birth, has been in short supply in health facilities for months.
"Montafarm" emphasized that there is currently a shortage of Pentaxim (pentavalent vaccine given to children as protection against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hemophilus influenza type B and polio) and that it should arrive in the first half of April.
In Montenegro, vaccination against tuberculosis, paralysis, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, measles, mumps and rubella, hepatitis B and diseases caused by Haemophilus influenza type B is mandatory.
A fine of 500 euros is also foreseen for parents who do not vaccinate their children against 10 infectious diseases.
