The NGO-cooperation coalition calls on the Administrative Committee in the Parliament of Montenegro to do its job and apply the laws.
"The Council of the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM), in accordance with Article 34 of the Law on Electronic Media, submitted to the Administrative Board on January 30, 2015, an initiative for the dismissal of its member Darko Ivanović, due to a conflict of interest. The AEM Council made a decision that Ivanovic is in a conflict of interest and should be dismissed. Article 33 of the law stipulates that the Assembly will dismiss a member of the Council and appoint another, if it is established that during the appointment he gave incorrect information about himself or failed to provide information and circumstances that are important for the appointment," said Goran Đurovic, president of the Board of Directors. Coalitions with NGO cooperation to the goal.
He added that the AEM Council initiated the procedure for the dismissal of Darko Ivanovic and that now the responsibility for the application and observance of the law rests with the Administrative Board and the Assembly of Montenegro.
The board will not initiate the procedure for the dismissal of Ivanovic >>>
"Administrative good should not shift the responsibility for making a decision to other bodies and wait for the completion of the proceedings before the judicial authorities, but should resolve this situation. The proceedings before the competent court can last for years, and in the meantime the AEM Council should make decisions without the mortgage of illegal action", Đurović said.
According to him, the AEM Council previously concluded that Darko Ivanović cannot be a member of this body because his organization, Media n-gage Agency, participates in the production of the show "Robin Hood" together with Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG).
Ivanović finds himself in a conflict of interest because as a member of the AEM Council he may be in a situation to make a decision on possible objections from viewers regarding the violation of legal norms and professional standards in his own show. We call on the Administrative Board to reconsider its decision and start the dismissal procedure without delay. We hope that the application of the law will be the only criterion for the MPs in making a decision on the dismissal of a member of the AEM Council and that they will ignore all other personal and party interests.
