"Artist in Residence Španjola Fest 2018" ends tonight with an exhibition of works on the theme "Object".
The works of Ivana Babić from Budva, Dimitrije Stojmenov from Užice and Zlatko Krstevski from Prilep will be presented at the Španjola fortress. In the southeast tower, Zlatko Krstevski will present painted canvases. Ivana Babić is exhibiting painted glass that will be placed in the form of windows on several buildings in Španjola, and Dimitrije Stojmenov will show his graphics and a multimedia short film showing his vision of Herceg Novi and its heritage.
The participants of the Colony also contributed to other programs of the Artist in Residence program: lectures, art workshops and tours where they got to know the wide range of cultural heritage of Herceg Novi, all with the aim of showing, together with the organizers from the NGO Sinergije, that Španjola can deserve a new purpose. and became an artist residence.
"This year we hosted three important artists from Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro and they were fascinated by Spanjola, the most beautiful view of the Bay of Kotor, the wonderful weather and their synergy showed that Spanjola should be an artistic residence and a space for creative content. Now it's up to us Novljani, above all those who see and live life differently, participate in it and want good for our city, to revive Španjola. It is our mission to make Španjola worthy of the title of Art Residence in Herceg Novi," said Ana Bulatović, program director of the festival.
The Artist in residence program has been gathering artists from the region for several years who live, work, and express themselves artistically at the fortress in the eco camp. In addition, they get to know Herceg Novi and its values and listen to interesting lectures. This year it was the lectures "Fortification architecture of the Venetian period in Boka", prof. Dr. Ilija Lalošević and Robin Gellately Smith "Sustainable construction and development".
"The goal of Španjol Fest is to defend the cultural heritage from privatization and to keep one of our most important values in Herceg Novi in the hands of the people. This project is equally cultural, educational, artistic and ecological, but based on preserving our values, cultural and historical heritage. It is a project that equally promotes science, architecture and urban planning, above all, but also other fields, tourism, ecology, art and history. And what is probably the most significant is the program for young people and their future, pointed out Vuk Čvoro, founder of the NGO Synergija, which was the initiator and organizer of the event.
Tonight, after the opening of the exhibition at Španjola, a musical program will be organized: performances by DJs Marija S, Branko Djurovic and Ivan from the Double Needle Project.
