Tomorrow, the legislative committee will consider amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection, which provide that women who give birth to three or more children would have the right to financial benefits.

Amendments to the Law were proposed by the deputy of the Socialist People's Party, Aleksandar Damjanović.

An employed woman who gives birth to three or more children, as stated, would have the right to a lifetime monthly allowance of 70 percent of the average net salary in Montenegro, earned in the year preceding the one when that right was earned.

"This right has an employed woman who gives birth to three children and achieves at least 25 years of service, that is, an employed woman who gives birth to four or more children and has at least 15 years of service," says Damjanović's explanation.

It is specified that this right cannot be used during employment and excludes the possibility of simultaneously using the right to a pension.

"During the use of the benefit, users have the right to health insurance," it says in the amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection.

MP of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Nada Drobnjak, previously assessed that these proposed changes represent an attack on the foundations of equality between men and women.

Drobnjak believes that it is "an extremely populist idea, wrapped in fine paper with a bow, so that women would accept it".
