Slaviša Knežević, the father of the baby who died in the Bjelopolje maternity hospital, said it was unbelievable that doctors Tomislav Jeremic and Haka Tahirović are still working, after their re-engagement was condemned by the Minister of Justice Duško Marković and the President of the Supreme Court Vesna Medenica.

He wonders who else should condemn the return to work of doctors suspected of infecting babies' heels in the maternity ward, and whether the Prime Minister and the President will also make a statement about it.

"When the authorities say that those suspected of serious crimes against people's health are irritating in this way, can anyone imagine how much they irritate us parents, who have gone through great suffering because of them", said Knežević yesterday in front of the hospital gate, where he is protesting with other parents .

The parents demand that the doctors who were hired after the one and a half month detention in which they were due to an infection in the maternity ward that occurred in the middle of November last year, be removed from their jobs.

The parents indicated that they would continue to protest outside, announcing that they plan to come next week with their wives, children and babies.

Predrag Karišik, the father of one of the infected babies, assessed that the decision of the Hospital's Board of Directors to allow doctors to work was completely understandable, pointing out that "the whole city" could see that Jeremić was "meeting in cafes" with two members of that body.

"I watched them leave the cafe, and the day after that, this was the decision of the Board of Directors," Karisik said.

The Prosecutor's Office suspects two doctors of serious crimes against people's health, for which a sentence of two to 12 years in prison is threatened.
