Educational campaign about domestic violence for Roma women

Today, 45 Roma women from the Konik refugee camp were reminded of the safe women's house, where an educational workshop on domestic violence was held.

The Safe Women's House announced that data on violence in Montenegro show that especially women belonging to marginalized groups are the ones who suffer domestic violence in the greatest number of cases.

"The educational workshop was focused on getting to know members of the Roma population how to recognize different forms of violence and how to report it. The participants of the workshop were introduced to the competences of institutions and non-governmental organizations in dealing with and protecting against violence against women and domestic violence," says the announcement.

The organizer of the visit and workshop is the Roma Education Fund - REA, which, as part of the project Assistance Program for the Integration and Return of REA and other I/RLs living in the Konik settlement, is implementing various programs for the empowerment of Roma and Egyptian women for the third year in a row.

"For this purpose, programs are held four times a week with about 70 women - Early Child Development, Literacy and the Toy Library program, within which a number of educational sub-programs are implemented for children from this community of preschool and school age and their parents," it is said in announcement.

The project was financed by the European Union, and the leading partner is Help, in addition to the Ministry of Education, the Red Cross, the Danish Legal Center, Juventas and others.
